A Familiar Name, A New Chapter: Metropolitan Studios Returns
If you’ve been around our little corner of Atlanta for a while, you may have noticed a familiar name making its way back.
Metropolitan Studios is back. But this is a new chapter.
Earlier this year, after a decade in this building, Rebecca made the decision to close Metropolitan Studios and step away from studio ownership. Soon after, the little teal house found new life under new ownership as The Village Studios.
The goal was to build on what had made this space special while creating something new—a flexible, welcoming home for classes, rehearsals, events, photography, performance, and all the wonderfully varied things Atlanta’s creative community dreams up.
Then came an unexpected plot twist.

Recently, we learned that a trademark conflict would require The Village Studios to choose a new name. And, as it happened, there was a pretty meaningful name available.
After talking it through together, Rebecca offered us the opportunity to carry the Metropolitan Studios name forward.
So yes, the sign will say Metropolitan Studios again.
A Familiar Name, But a New Studio
We want to be clear about what that means. This is not the former Metropolitan Studios reopening. That business has closed, and the studio is under completely new ownership.
What is continuing is a name with deep roots in this building, this neighborhood, and Atlanta’s creative community.
For more than a decade, artists walked through the doors of this little teal house to learn, rehearse, teach, perform, photograph, celebrate, experiment, and create. Metropolitan Studios became more than the name of a business—it became shorthand for a place where people made things together.
That history is worth honoring.
But honoring a space’s history doesn’t mean freezing it in time.
Honoring What Was While Building What’s Next
For Rebecca, this transition is an opportunity to see something she helped build and deeply loved take on a life beyond her ownership. For us, it’s an opportunity to honor the history of the best little teal house in Georgia while continuing to shape it into something distinctly our own.
And for everyone who has taken a class here, rehearsed here, performed here, created here, celebrated here, taught here, worked here, or simply walked through these doors over the years, we hope seeing the Metropolitan Studios name again feels like a little bit of home carrying forward.
At the same time, we’re excited about all the people who will discover Metropolitan Studios for the first time. There are new ideas ahead. New classes. New artists. New events. New collaborations. And undoubtedly a few things we haven’t even imagined yet.
That feels fitting for a building that has spent so much of its life dedicated to creativity.
Welcome to the New Metropolitan Studios
A name can carry a lot of history, but the people inside a space are what give it life.
That’s the part we’re most excited about.
Same creative space. New ownership. A familiar name. A new Metropolitan Studios.
Whether this little teal house already holds years of memories for you or you’re just discovering us, we hope you’ll come be part of its next chapter.
We can’t wait to show you what comes next.
